Your account and forums

Here is the usual path people follow—nothing here is meant to feel like homework before you can try the product.

You install the plugin first

When you install the Forum Fortress add-on or extension on your forum and turn it on, it talks to our service in the background. That alone creates a lightweight anonymous site on our side so sign-ups, logins, and posts can be scored. You get protection without filling out a form first.

Optionally, you can “claim” the forum in the portal

Want a normal login at portal.forumfortress.com, usage history, moderation tools, plan upgrades, or email support tied to you? That part is optional. Open the portal, create an account (magic link or password—whatever the site offers), verify your email if asked, and use the prompts to link your forum to that account. The plugin may offer a shortcut or wording like “connect account”—same idea.

If you never do this, the forum can still run on the anonymous connection the plugin opened on first use.

More than one forum (Pro / multimod)

Pro is aimed at people who run several communities—for example a network or “multimod” setup. When you are ready to add a second (or further) forum, you use the same email you already use in the portal so everything sits under one customer account. Each forum still installs its own plugin and has its own site record; the portal is where you see them together and choose plans that cover multiple sites.

Exact plan names and limits follow what you see in the portal at checkout or upgrade time.

Activation codes (less common)

Some setups use a short activation code instead of clicking around in the portal. If your host or installer mentions a code, the technical flow is described under Site & activation.

Keeping things in sync

  • The plugin sends occasional pings so we know it is alive and which version you run.
  • If you change your public URL or move hosts, update both your forum settings and anything you configured in the portal so domains and keys still match.

If the in-forum screens ever disagree with this page, trust what you see in the product and use the portal Contact form if you are stuck.
